Gil Averis qualified at Glasgow in 1977. After working in Lincoln, London and Keighley Gil opened Tweed House in 1983. Gil has a special interest in Canine Reproduction and specialises in fertility problems in dogs and bitches and the collection and shipping of canine semen (fresh and frozen) worldwide.
Gil is heavily involved in the dog world and shows and breeds mainly Weimaraners but also German Shorthaired Pointers, Labradors and Sussex Spaniels. Gil has bred numerous Weimaraner Champions and Show Champions and has judged Weimaraners at Crufts and awards Challenge Certificates in Weimaraners and German Shorthaired Pointers. Gil judges all Gundog breeds at open shows.
Gil serves on several committees including: Kennel Club General Committee Kennel Club Show Executive Committee Kennel Club Working Gundog working Certificate German Shorthaired Pointer Health Committee
Gil has also written two books, Veterinary Advice for Gundog Owners and The Pet Owner’s Guide to the Weimaraner.
